Sambar

Ingredients

  • Thoor dal - 1/2cup 
  • Brinjal - 3(cut in medium)
  • Drumstick - 4 small pieces 
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2tsp 
  • Sambar - 2 1/2tbsp
  • Asafetida - 1/2tsp 
  • Onion - 1medium size
  • Tomato - 2medium size
  • Fenugreek seeds - 1/2tsp 
  • Mustard seeds - 1/2tsp 
  • Tamarind extract - 1tsp
Instruction

  • Pressure toor dal to 2 whistles. Add the vegetables, turmeric powder and cook for 10 minutes.
  • Then add the coriander powder, chilli powder, Asafetida you cook for 10 minutes.
  • Now heat the oil in a separate pan and add the Fenugreek seeds, Mustard seeds and fry.
  • Then add the onion and fry till golden brown & then add tomato and cook for 5 minutes.
  • Now add the dal and cook for 5 minutes. Sambar is ready.
  • Garnish it with Coriander leaves and Curry leaves.
  • Serve hot with Rice.
