Aatu Kari Kulambu (Mutton Curry)













Ingredients
Mutton - 1/2 lb 
Potato(optional) - 4 nos
Fennel seeds - 1 tsp 
Onion - 2 medium size
Tomato - 2 medium size
Poppy seeds Paste - 1 tbsps 
turmeric powder - 1/ tsp 
Coriander powder - 2 tbsps 
Chilli powder - 2 tbsps 
Coconut paste - 3 tbsps 
Ginger-garlic Paste - 1 tsp 
Garam masala powder - 1/2 tsp 
Cloves - 4nos
Bay leaves - 2nos
Cinnamon - 2medium size
Curd(optional) - 2 tbsp 
Oil - 5 tbsps 
Coriander leaves for garnishing
Salt for taste
Instruction
1. Marinate the mutton pieces with the poppy seed paste,garam masala and 1tsp of salt.
2. Heat the oil in pressure pan and put the fennel, seeds, cloves, bay leaves and Cinnamon. Let them splutter. Add the chopped onion and fry till slightly golden brown.
3. Add the ginger-garlic paste and fry for 4-5 mts. Now add the
chopped tomato, salt and turmeric powder and cook for 6-7 mts till the oil separates from the masala.
4. Add the marinated mutton, potato cubes and a cup of water and
combine all the masala and cooks for 5-6 mts.
5. Now, close the pan and pressure it till the mutton becomes soft.
Then, open the pan and add the coriander powder, chilli powder and
coconut paste and cook the gravy for 10 mts in slow flame till the
oil separates from the masala.
6. Now, garnish the mutton with the coriander leaves.
7. Serve the mutton curry with rice, dosa, idli, puri, roti and naan.

Tips: You can add cashew nut paste instead of using the coconut paste. Soak the cashew nut in hot water for 10 mts and make the paste.

Let me try this today itself.
Please,if possible post the recipe for Biriyani thats made in tamilnadu.All these restaurents selling briyani are north indian style which is not very good.
