Coconut Milk mixed Vegetable Sodhi

Sodhi is one of the south Indian traditional gravy made with coconut milk. The coconut milk is the main ingredient and gives the gravy a special aroma and flavor to the dish.

Sodhi comes well with rice, Rotis, dosa, idli, mainly taste good with idiyappam. The recipe refers different in each family. Some don't use garlic or onions and some don't use any vegetables just use tomatoes and some use only tomato and just one vegetable, some don't do the tempering also and some make the gravy white without added the turmeric powder or any sambar masala just the spiciness from the green chilies. This recipe is my family version.

If you are making fresh coconut milk use the three milk to cook the dal and vegetables. After the it is cooked before tempering the gravy add the first milk to it. When you are making it with freshly made coconut milk the flavor will be amazing. I used canned coconut milk.

I make sodhi for idli and the leftover as a side dish for lunch with rasam rice. It tasted good with both idli and rasam rice.
