Simple, easy, instant and interesting snack or sweet variety which I tried for my weekend Sunday binge.
One of my childhood favorite which I was thinking so far it is impossible to make the tea Kadai taste. Never ever thought that it will be so simple to make the muttikose cake or my family call it as aatukaal because it looks like the feet of a goat(aadu).
Even now when I go to India I make sure I enjoy this tea kadai aatukaal wrapped in tamil newspaper unbelievably tasty as I know some won't believe like Param, my husband. But, I do and thoroughly enjoyed it.
The recipe goes so easy just mix well all the ingredients and fry it in the oil no complications at all simple ingredient, simple method and here you go a tasty snack for a cold winter weekend evening.
Ingredients
- Maida - 1cup
- Sugar - 1/2cup
- Rava - 3tbsp
- Ghee - 2tbsp(melted)
- Fennel seeds - 1tsp
- Cardamom - 3nos
- Egg - 1
- Baking Soda - 1tsp
- Oil to fry
- Water to make the dough
Instructions
- Grind the sugar, fennel seeds, and cardamom into a nice powder.
- Then, add all the ingredients in a bowl and adding water in potions make a sticky dough. Keep the dough aside for 30 minutes before frying the muttikose cake.
- After 30 minutes make a rough round and give a deep cut in the middle of the round and deep fry in the low-medium flame till golden brown.
- Enjoy with hot tea or coffee.
Cooking Tips
- You have to fry the muttikose in low-medium flow. If fried in the high flame the inside of the cake won't cook properly.
- If you don't like to use baking soda u can use thick curd. Add a 1/4cup of thick curd with the ghee and whisk it for 3 to 4 minutes then add the other ingredients.
- You can use wheat flour for a healthier version.
